A little brown dachshund died recently after eating deadly death cap mushrooms. Death caps produce the most serious types of mushroom poisonings which can result in liver failure and death. In the Bay Area, these mushrooms can be found all year round. They are most abundant in the fall and during early winter, but can also be found through late spring and even during dry summers and in areas of coastal fog drip, according to the Mycological Society. I personally found some in my back yard not too long ago and removed them immediately. I suggest taking a good look around your home for anything that these little quisitive nose hounds might want to get into. smdailyjournal.com
